The law is on your side
UK Regulation 261 (UK261) sets out fixed compensation amounts that airlines must pay when they delay or cancel flights. These rights apply to all passengers on flights departing from UK airports, or arriving in the UK on a UK/EU carrier.
The amounts are set by law — £220/€250, £350/€400, or £520/€600 depending on distance — and your airline cannot offer you less. You do not need to prove financial loss.
